A clamour of rooks
Darkness against the light
The sun is standing still
On the shortest day
A tilting of the earth
On an indrawn breath
As the world turns
And is reborn
Midwinter waiting
Is a necessary death
Don’t turn away
Remember the dark times
And those not here for long
The warmth of candle light
Flickering memories
As the years pile up
Like logs
Slow burning on the fire
A glimpse of wounded berries
A robin’s sudden song
A bright star gleaming in the west
This day is now and gone
With the promise
That there will be sunshine
And the spring will come
