RSPB Big British Birdwatch

RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, 25th-27th January 2020

An excuse to spend an hour just watching your garden (or a friend’s garden, or nearby public space, if you don’t have a garden) and noticing what goes on. The data you collect is aggregated and used to come to conclusions about trends in bird populations and their implications, and the process of watching (I recommend with your favourite cuppa and snack) is fascinating and may help you discover things about your garden, and how birds behave, that you didn’t already know. You may even find yourself plotting changes to help the web of wildlife your space supports.

Please register your interest in taking part with the RSPB and have a look at the resources/”how to” info, if you’re intending to take part for the first time. I’ve done it for a number of years (and got stupidly excited when I saw a couple of species for the first time in my count, who proved to me that much goes on that I’m usually too busy to notice) so am happy to help, if you’ve any questions, via paula@parklands-chichester.org
