Brighton’s solar powered electric bus, The Big Lemon, visits Chichester

The Green Party’s MEP, Alexandra Phillips visited Chichester last week on the Big Lemon. Alexandra Phillips was here to attend a  public meeting with local councillors and business leaders to discuss the New Green Deal. The Big Lemon originally ran all their buses on recycled waste cooking oil from local restaurants, The Big Lemon launched the UK’s first solar-powered electric bus in 2017 and are now converting their entire bus fleet to electric.  Electricity to power the buses is provided by solar panels on the roof of the bus depot. The Big Lemon now operate six local bus services in the Brighton area and a wide variety of coach services both locally and nationally. For more information go to their website The Big Lemon.

Could Chichester run it’s own electric bus service? Your chance to ask the question by filling in the Chichester City Neighbourhood Plan questionnaire or contacting your local councillor.
