    'Woman at War' film screening

    October 8, 2019

We’re raising important funds for trees and hope you can join us for a special screening of Woman at War on October 8th, 8pm.

We are delighted to announce our first Icelandic film, hailed as a classic of our time, both thrilling and darkly comic. Juxtaposed between the breathtaking beauty of rural Iceland and industrial power plants, this film is a rare breed – a crowd pleaser about climate change!  Halldóra Geirharosdóttir is brilliant as the mother of all green goddesses, taking on the government and big business as a fearsome eco-warrior, belying her public persona as mild mannered choir director, on a quest to adopt a child, This film was a favourite of the critics and has been called ‘a subversive romp’ … ‘moving, embracing, weirdly beautiful with a mythic feel’.  The Guardian    Do come and join us for a shot of vodka and something a little different.

Compton and Up Marden School Hall, doors and bar open at 7:30pm and the film commences at 8pm.  Tickets £6 non-members, £5 members.  All welcome. Please note this film is sub-titled.

All proceeds to go to The Woodland Trust. Please spread the word and help us get seats on chairs and trees in the ground!
