Hi Eco Meet-up Chichester,

3 updates:
1).   Looks like we need some new ideas for the “School Strike” Day here in Chichester on Friday 15th March, please?
Public Space Video Projection suggestions.  Publicity to Parents and Teachers.
Another Calendar entry: Earth Day on Saturday 30th March

FromAlec Cazas <alec_cazas@yahoo.co.uk>,  who has approached the Cathedral regarding the projection of the Greta Thunberg video. The request has not been successful. They haven’t given a detailed explanation on what basis they declined to grant the permission so I will email seeking further information.

In the meantime, could you please let the other members of the group know? They were expecting to hear whether the permission was granted as some of them offered to be present at this event.
Kind regards

Alec

2).   Following several of us attending the Extinction Rebellion Portsmouth Talk on Monday 4th, I have received the following email.
Incidentally, I have the email address for their Main Speaker: Xavier, and the Mobile for one of their lead Supporters: Rayner (Emsworth, keen to link with XR Chichester).
NB. Our West Sussex Climate Emergency motion is Friday 5th April …. we will be marching to our [Chichester] County Hall.

From XR Portsmouth:  Thank you so much for attending our launch on Monday. We were delighted by the number of people who showed up and the positive energy in the roomWe would really like to harness that energy and focus it towards our goals:

GOAL ONE: Portsmouth City Council to declare a Climate Emergency in their next Full Council Meeting on March  19th

GOAL TWO: Portsmouth to become a fully carbon-neutral city by 2030

That means less polluted streets and much improved air quality, more green spaces, cheaper and better public transport, properly insulated and warmer homes, lower energy bills etc.
